Woodman returns to lead defense Two years ago, women's soccer defender Meghan Woodman helped lead Western Washington University to a 13-6-1 record and its first appearance at the NCAA Division II Far West Regional. That season, she recorded a team-high eight assists and scored three goals. In 2007, an ankle injury sidelined her for the entire season as the Vikings narrowly missed a berth at nationals. After rehabbing from her surgically repaired ankle, which forced her to walk on crutches for two months, Woodman is eager for the upcoming campaign and wants to make an impact like in 2006 when she was named a first-team Daktronics and second-team National Soccer Coaches Association of America Far West Region and first-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-star.
